What Information Product Medium Should You Use?

Information products can range from a simple eBook to a full course with manual, DVDs and CDs. Don’t sweat creating your information product, even if it’s your first. The most important thing about information products is that they convey quality information to the person who buys your product.

My first recommendation to my coaching students is to go with whatever medium you are most comfortable with. If you enjoy writing, then write an ebook, book or manual. Many people, even people who like to write are intimidated by the thought of writing a book. Take some pressure off yourself and start with an eBook or manual. You aren’t writing the Great American Novel; you are writing an information product. An information product should impart the information clearly, concisely and thoroughly. People will purchase it because they are looking for specific information, not an involved story line.

If you are not at all comfortable with the idea of writing an information product, you can also record the information using an audio or video format. Many people nowadays either don’t like to read or don’t have the time to read. They would rather listen to a CD in their car or download the information and listen to it on their IPod. Other people learn best by watching a video.

If you feel strange just talking into a microphone and recording it, you can have a friend help you out by interviewing you. Come up with ten to twenty questions about your topic (depending on how long you want your recording to be), arrange them in a logical progression and then have your friend ask you the questions. You may want to write down various points that you don’t want to miss for each answer. That way you’re not reading from a full script (and you won’t sound stiff which is the way most people sound when reading from a script) and you’ll make sure you have the most important information in your answers. If you can get a conversational tone going in your “interview” the audio will be that much easier for people to follow and learn from.

You can also create a video, either of yourself demonstrating how to do something, an interview of you or you can create a Camtasia-style instructional video with a voice over. Camtasia is a software program that allows you to record your voice with whatever is on your screen or integrate video with PowerPoint and other media. I use Camtasia to record my PowerPoint presentations. I create a PowerPoint on my topic then talk through the presentation as if I were in front of a live audience. Camtasia records it and I can put it into a variety of formats (.avi,.mpv, etc.) for uploading to the internet or to burn on DVDs. Another way to record presentations is to use a webinar software such as gotowebinar or dimdim. Both of these sites can be used to conduct webinars or just to record a PowerPoint presentation. In addition, DimDim.com has the capacity to record whatever is on your screen or even capture from your computer’s video camera.

Of course, nothing says you can put out your information product in only one format. As a matter of fact, if you can offer a package with the information in several formats, all the better. Everybody learns in different ways. If people have the option to read, listen to AND watch the information, you are more likely to hit on the way they like to learn.

Bottom line, go with the medium you are most comfortable in. However, don’t be afraid to put your product into different formats. If you write an info product, you may want to read it aloud and record it on CDs or into MP3 files. If you like doing videos, you can create a video and then pay to have the audio portion of the video transcribed so you can offer a written accompaniment to the video. Either way, you are increasing your odds of having the right product for your target market.

Remember: It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be done.

5 Powerful Tips For Selling Information Products

There’s a very good reason why I entered the market of selling information products and that is simply because I know the market will never die. Yes, it is important that I offer information products in a niche market where there is demand and in a format that is wanted, but I am totally confident that there will always be a market for me to operate in.

So, how does this affect you? Well, in simple terms you obviously want to make money from selling information products, right? In this article I am going to give you 5 crucial, powerful tips that will help you to not only get started in this market, but stay at the top of the field.

Here are the 5 tips:

Tip #1 – Always focus on your customer and not on the money.

I learnt this lesson very early on. If your aim is to simply make money, and as much of it as possible, you will fail.As human beings we are tuned to be attracted to people that want to help us. It’s basically about trust! If people trust you they will part with their money. If you sell them rubbish they will not only complain and ask for their money back, but they will also tell on average at least 10 people about their bad experience with your company. The lesson here is to sell your information products with your customer at the forefront of your mind. Give them something that will make a difference to their lives. Give them something that will improve their standard of living. Give them an advantage over other people. if you do this, you will succeed and you will always make money.

Tip #2 – Give away FREE bonus items.

We all love a free bonus! It’s what makes us buy more. You need to make your customer feel like they are winning; like they are getting the best deal. If you do this, they are far more likely to part with their money.I always try to give my customers at least one free bonus items, often 2 or 3. I have found that this increases conversions by a whopping 75%.

Tip #3 – Trust is the key to wealth.

I’ve mentioned this before in this article, but I want to mention it again. If your customers trust you they will give you money.any element of mis-trust and you will lose them. On average a website will convert a sale from just 1 out of every 100 customers. If a website is converting at this rate, it is doing quite well! This reiterates my point that people unknowingly are searching for trust when buying products. That is why customers prefer large branded companies, simply because there is an element of built in trust with their purchase. You have to build up that trust and to do that you have to engage with them. On the vast majority ofmy online businesses I will offer my customers a free product or report in exchange for their contact details. once I have their contact details I can then start to build up that trust in a series of follow-up messages and services. Trust me, this works!

Tip #4 – How does your product benefit the customer?

In general I have found that people will buy something from me if I provide them with a product that will either do one of, all of or a combination of the following:

1. Improve their health

2. Improve their life

3. Give them an advantage

4. Save them money

Whenever I create an information product I will always concentrate on one of the above areas. If I do this, I am certain that the product will sell. For example, one of my very first online businesses focused on providing my customers with career books that gave them a massive advantage over all of the other applicants. I gave them the interview questions and I also gave them sample responses to those questions. As you can imagine, they sold like hot cakes!

Tip #5 – Avoid mass markets; you won’t sell anything.

When choosing information products to sell with resell rights avoid those markets that are saturated. Generally these products are ones that claim to help people stop smoking, get rich quick or lose weight. Whilst I have found that some of these types of products are great quality the market is saturated. Try to find products that are both high quality and niche.

If you follow all of the above tips your chances of success when selling resell rights information products will increase greatly. Remember, always concentrate on your customer and not on the money!

Money Making Information Products – How To Make Money With Them

One of the easiest ways to make money online is by selling money making information products. These can be simple e-books or reports that will share information in a tutorial that is in a “how to” format and teach people some skills.

The huge advantage with money making information products is that there are no extra expenses incurred. These money making information products are delivered electronically and only require an online payment processor like PayPal and a hosting service to distribute them. This obviously means there are very less overheads in running the online business as there is no physical delivery or shipping of goods involved.

E-books are not the only money making information products, one can in fact use videos or do podcasting. Other options are also there like a membership site or the use of an email list to deliver these info products.

Coming to the products themselves your money making information products can be about anything. You can teach people how to play golf better, how to catch really good fish, share cooking secrets and food recipes, teach gardening, teach people how to lose weight, or even teach people how to make money on the internet using such info products.

You can then promote these money making info products through various avenues. You can set up your own website and sell your money making information products. You can pay a certain fee and have them listed at online retailers selling digital products like ClickBank, the Amazon Kindle Store, or Apple’s iTunes Store.

The final piece of the puzzle is to market your money making info products to potential customers. There are many ways to do this like having affiliates promote your money making information products for a commission, doing search engine optimization so your website with your money making information product is found by potential customers searching on Google doing ad swaps, sending out emails to your email list or that of a joint-venture partner or using social media platforms like Twitter or Facebook.

Websites that sell Internet Marketing or Make Money type products sometimes wish to sell a lot (of their product) within a short space of time and they are willing to sell each product for much much less than the original price.

They come to us and we create a deal to benefit the public, whereby buyers can get the same product (which was being sold yesterday at full price) for 50-90% less.

We make sure the product on offer is of high quality and is genuinely at a discounted price from the original.

When you visit the front page of our site, you will see the current product on offer for that day.

The deal will only become available and active if a certain number of people register their interest in buying the product. If the required number of people is met, then the deal is activated and you can buy the product at the discounted price.

These Types Of Information Products Really Work

In this article, I’m going to introduce to you which types of information products really work versus which types don’t serve your customers well.

The basic premise of an information product is that it teaches someone how to do something, whether that’s giving someone basic knowledge of a subject all the way to becoming an expert in that topic. Information products can range anywhere from a few dollars up to thousands of dollars, depending on how in-depth the product is.

For example, a 1 hour product can be sold for $17, a 3-6 hour product can be sold for $97, a 10+ hour course can be sold for $297, and so on. What’s important to understand is people will pay for information to be put together so they don’t have to find it themselves. But the real question is which types of info products work versus which ones don’t, and why. Lets find out.

The first type of info product that really works is a traffic generation product. People love to buy the next latest and greatest ‘secret source’ of traffic that will overflow their website with leads and sales. Why? Because unfortunately they think traffic generation is the only thing you need to have in order to make money online. When the traffic generation technique they learn doesn’t work in 30 days or less, they buy the next product thinking the ‘magic bullet’ is in that new product.

I would know… I’ve done the same thing.

Now please understand that I’m not saying that you should trick people by giving them bad information or anything like that. Not at all. I’m just saying traffic generation products do really well. On the other hand, I’ve also stopped buying products from certain people because the information they taught was not genuine and was incomplete. Bottom line is whatever product you create, make it great, make it informative, and make it complete.

The next type of info product that rocks is a ‘formula’ product, and by formula, I mean teaching people the ‘big picture’ of a topic and then breaking down each step of the process to get a positive end result. For instance, if you were teaching article marketing, you would first teach them how article marketing fits into the big picture and then you would give them the formula to have success in article marketing. Your formula product must be great and it must deliver extreme value. In fact, if you make all of your info products with the idea to ‘under promise and over deliver’, you’ll do awesome!

Formula products work because people have a fear of loss. Most people know they are missing something and when they have an opportunity to buy a ‘formula’ that gives them what they are missing, they usually buy the product. People don’t want to ‘lose out’ on what they don’t know. It’s very powerful stuff.

The last type of info products that really work are ‘hand-holding’ products that basically walk people step-by-step, holding their hand through every step of the process. These types of products can be instructional videos so people can watch and copy what you do in the same order as you do them. They can be home-study courses with specific instructions including unlimited email access to you, or they can be group or personal coaching programs that take ‘hand-holding’ to a whole new level.

Some people can get some instruction on what to do and then you just get out of their way. Most people, especially the ones who truly become successful, get some sort of coaching as they go along. Why? Because every great individual, every great team player, every great leader has coaches and/or mentors giving them advice and guiding them step-by-step. Plus, people always accomplish more with ‘mastermind’ groups.

Now there are more types of information products that just ‘kill it’ out there, but these 3 I’ve just identified for you are a good place to start from.
